DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE FROM THE TYRANNY OF BUSH


The text below is taken from the original US Declaration of Independence. In it, the American founding fathers explained why they wanted to be free from the tyranny of the British. I was surprised at how easy it was to remove the words about the British and replace them with words about George Bush and his “War on Terror”. Some paragraphs were deleted because they were not relevant to the current situation.

The words with a normal font are the original words from the Declaration of Independence. The words in bold font have been added to match current issues.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE FROM THE TYRANNY OF BUSH

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to stand up to a tyrant and a war criminal and dissolve the political bands which have connected their two governments, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the freedom from being bombed by an Aggressive State that launches Wars of Terror against largely civilian populations with impunity.

Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People of the world to oppose such a destructive government for the benefit of humanity.

The history of the Bush Administration is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations against foreign states, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world and let them look no further than Iraq.

Bush has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

Bush has threatened to use his veto power repeatedly, against any group that opposes with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

Bush has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws that will allow the application of the Geneva Conventions for Prisoners of War held in Guantanamo Bay and other secret prisons.

Bush has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the application of habeas corpus.

Bush has erected a multitude of New Offices, such as the Department of Homeland Security, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass innocent civilians and eat out their substance.

Bush has kept among us (the citizens of the world), in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of the common people.

Bush is quartering large bodies of armed troops among the innocent civilians of Iraq:

Bush is protecting those soldiers, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders or torture which they should commit on the Inhabitants of their prisons in Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay, and other secret locations:

Bush is depriving people in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury:

Bush is transporting innocent civilians and alleged criminals beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences without ever being presented evidence of their crimes:

Bush abolished the existing government in Iraq, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into other middle eastern states.

Bush took away their Charters, abolishing their most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of their Government:

Bush suspended their right to self determination, and declared himself invested with power to pre-emptively strike against any state in all cases whatsoever.

Bush has burnt the towns, and destroyed the lives of the people in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the new goal of attacking the sovereign state of Iran.

Bush is at this time transporting large Armies of US soldiers to complete the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Shock and Awe in Baghdad scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

In every stage of these Oppressions the people of the world have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms to the United Nations: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury and threats of a veto. A President, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our American brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their own elected legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over innocent civilians. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred as human beings. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the innocent civilians of the world, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of the world solemnly publish and declare, That we in the Non-Aligned Countries are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that we are Absolved from all Allegiance to George Bush and his “War on Terror”, and that all political connection between us and the Bush Administration, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, we have full Power to determine our own political affairs, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do without interference from Bush the Tyrant and his collaborators. — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Almighty God, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
